Donate miles for Katrina relief

If you are as frustrated and sickened about what's going on in New Orleans, but you lack money, time, or both - maybe you have some unused frequent flier miles that you could donate. Some of the airlines are specifically soliciting for Katrina relief while others have a standing policy of allowing you to donate miles to charities like the Red Cross.

CNN reaches new low???
Thu Aug 11, 2005 at 02:40:36 PM PDT
I'm subscribed to CNN Breaking News email alerts and I just got one that says:
"British Airways cancels all flights in and out of London's Heathrow Airport until 1 p.m. ET (1700 GMT) Friday."
Now what would you think after reading that? Maybe that London might be the target of another terrorist attack, with a threat specific to BA? Yeah, me too.
So I went to cnn.com and they had the big red BREAKING NEWS box with the exact same text.
A quick trip to bbc.com reveals that there's been a wild cat strike by BA catering workers, therefore the flight cancellations.
I mean, come on! Could they be more alarmist?
Al Franken coming back to Sundance Channel!
Tue Mar 01, 2005 at 08:03:08 AM PDT
I wrote an email to the Sundance Channel when they stopped their TV version of the Al Franken Show last November. I knew all along that it was only supposed to air during the lead-up to the election, but I figured it couldn't hurt to shoot off an email. Now, months later, they've emailed me back with good news!
This, combined with the interview I heard on Franken's show with Danny Goldberg (new AA CEO) make me feel just a little hopeful....the letter is after the break.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) moved into a one-point lead over President Bush (news - web sites) three days before the presidential election, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Saturday.
Kerry led Bush 47-46 percent, well within the margin of error, in the latest three-day national tracking poll. Bush and Kerry were tied at 47 percent on Friday.
The polling was done Weds through Friday, so I don't know how much of an impact the OBL tape had, but I hope this makes some naysayers feel better about our chances.
