Action Alert - Save Medical Marijuana!

Mon Jun 26, 2006 at 11:03:17 AM PDT

Hi, I don't post here often, but I feel this is important. I support medical marijuana, and there is a vote coming up as soon as tomorrow that can protect those who use marijuana for medicinal purposes from prosecution from the Justice Department.

If you support this, please give your representative a call. This came to me via email from the Drug Policy Alliance.

Thanks.

Dean vows to fight on!

Sat Jun 11, 2005 at 03:29:26 PM PDT

I didn't see a diary on this, and I wanted to make sure everybody sees this...

Dean Tells Dems: 'People Want Us to Fight'

By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON

Howard Dean said Saturday that positive responses from key supporters have reinforced his determination to keep talking tough despite suggestions from some congressional Democrats that the party chairman should tone down his rhetoric.

"People want us to fight," Dean told the national party's executive committee. "We are here to fight."

Sat May 28, 2005 at 01:49:45 PM PDT

Got this link in an email from Truthout and I didn't see it in a search of recent diaries...

 By Andrew Buncombe
 The Independent UK

 Saturday 28 May 2005

Police in Durham, North Carolina, have launched an investigation after three crosses were set alight in one night - triggering fears that the Ku Klux Klan may have targeted the city. Yellow leaflets, purportedly produced by the KKK, were found at the site of one of the burning crosses.

BREAKING: Yoda Announces Presidential Bid

Wed May 18, 2005 at 01:02:29 PM PDT

Great news!  We've got a great candidate throwing his lightsaber into the ring!

Yoda Announces Candidacy for President
Corruption, Incompetence and Boredom Listed as Reasons
May 19, 2005

DAGOBAH (AP) - At an impromptu news conference held in front of his hut, Yoda, the famed Jedi Master, formally announced he would seek the Democratic nomination for the Presidency in 2008.

"Disbanded the Jedi Council young Skywalker has.  Find new work I must," joked Master Yoda.

Master Yoda has hundreds of years of experience as a Jedi Master.  Already, Master Yoda has received key endorsements from Senators Bail Organa (D-Alderaan) and Mon Mothma (D-Chandrila), who compared tactics the current Bush administration uses to undermine civil liberties to those of Emperor Palpatine.

"It's pretty clear that Master Yoda has begun articulating his message and telling voters his views on a number of issues,'' said Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, the media strategist for the Draft Yoda 2008 Committee. Kenobi said the Jedi Master will be a formidable candidate.

(UPDATED) Warning: Pastor John is not satire! He is DEAD SERIOUS!!!

Wed May 11, 2005 at 07:44:14 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of people on Daily Kos talking about how they enjoy the satire of Pastor John.  I'm writing this diary because a brief thread that took place in Armando's diary on Reid bashers from the right this past weekend.  In the diary, this thread occurs, where Pastor John is mentioned.  Armando and I insist that Pastor John is serious.  I cite the other blogs Pastor John contributes to, and this is enough to convince even Maryscott O'Connor, the Queen of Snark.  So I figure, if I can convince Maryscott, maybe I can convince everyone else on DKos.

Pastor John is not the satirical genius you all think he is.  I imagine he is what Pastor Dan would be like in Bizarro World.

Worst Cabinet EVER!!!! (w/ Poll)

Tue Nov 09, 2004 at 06:07:32 PM PDT

"The patronage of public office should no longer be confided to one who uses it for active opposition to the national will."
--Thomas Jefferson

"It was, I believe, a crucial miscalculation from the President and his advisers to believe this nomination would have brought all of us together. Or perhaps ... it is an instance where consensus was not the objective."
--Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT)

(a thank you to http://www.failureisimpossible.com/needtoknow/cabinet.htm for the above quotes and some of the info)
-----------------

Today's terrific news brought a sigh of relief to me.  Ashcroft is gone, removing a large tumor from the Bush Administration.  But that got me thinking, there are still many tumors left?

It's not just Ashcroft, it's the entire cabinet.  It is proof positive that the Democratic party had its head up its collective ass in 2000.  I hope they wake up and filibuster the types Bush nominated in 2000 and encourage moderates, or candidates who at least have their sanity.

Halliburton Bribery Scandal in Nigeria

Mon Nov 08, 2004 at 12:32:23 PM PDT

Halliburton acknowledges that bribes "may have been made" in Nigeria of upwards of $132 million to secure a $12 billion contract for a gas project 10 years ago.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20041108/bs_afp/us_oil_company_041108175353

This investigation has been ongoing, but the SEC and Justice Department furthered the investigation in a statement filed on Friday.  France and Nigeria are also investigating.

EVERYBODY, Please Write to MSNBC

Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 11:17:53 PM PDT

They are the only "respectable" network calling Ohio right now.  CNN rightly said it was too close to call, and Faux is the propaganda wing of the Bush Administration.  If my time on this site has taught me anything, it is that WE NEED TO SWAMP MSNBC WITH EMAILS CRITICIZING THEIR DECISION!!!

I mean, even after the Florida fiasco in 2000, they are calling Ohio way too soon.  As we remember, this may create the perception around America that W is the rightful winner, and our recount efforts will be sour grapes.  REMEMBER HOW GORE WAS PERCEIVED BY AMERICA, AS A SORE LOSER!!!!  Even though he won.

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE it's time to swamp MSNBC with letters!!!! Demand they not call Ohio until ALL VOTES ARE COUNTED!!  There is an incomplete list of addresses below the fold.  Please add more in the comments.  LET'S DEFEAT THE PRO-BUSH SPIN BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!  Thank you.

CNN - ENTIRE ELECTION too close to call

Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 10:55:06 PM PDT

Let's not concede this race yet.  Just because Faux and MSGOP have called Ohio red does not mean it is so.  CNN has had the sense to do what everyone should have done with Florida in 2000.

The lawyers are on their way.  The provisional ballots won't be counted for 10 days.  Get ready for a long, drawn out, no holds barred battle that will make 2000 look like a tea party.

We really need to fix some of these huge problems with our electoral system, our media, and our electorate.

Is China about to deliver Osama?

Thu Oct 21, 2004 at 09:06:00 AM PDT

Look, I don't know about the credibility of this source (El Mundo, http://www.el-mundo.es/cronica/2004/469/1097487207.html, translated by Information Clearing House, which seems to be a liberal "news" site, http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article7077.htm).  But if it's true, this is the October Surprise.

Bin Laden is in China

This confirms Gordon Thomas, a journalist with contacts in the most important intelligence services. The terrorist had reached an agreement with China, which now negotiates its surrender with Bush. It is his greatest electoral trick.

Translated from El Mundo

Gordon Thomas

10/13/04 "El Mundo"  -- During the home stretch of the Northamerican elections, Osama bin Laden could prove to be the ace in the sleeve of president Bush. As we speak, Washington is negotiating a highly secretive agreement with Beijing, the Chinese capital, for the eviction of bin Laden from his sanctuary in the turbulent Muslim provinces of China, in the Northwest of the Great Wall nation.

More below the fold.

I don't know how good this polling group is, but it only takes 5 minutes and is a good way to be heard about the sorry state of the media.

Let's Help Badnarik!

Mon Oct 18, 2004 at 04:09:32 PM PDT

I've been part of quite a bit of discussion on dKos in the past about what we should or should not do to aid Michael Badnarik.  Some say we should give money to help the Libertarians steal conservative votes.  Others suggest we should worry about our own candidate and GOTV only, and let the Libs take care of their own situation.

I have found a great way to aid Badnarik without giving ANY money and only a few minutes of your time.  Everybody can GET A FREE BUMPERSTICKER from http://www.badnarik.com, beneath the link for the ad.  Just submit your address.  They say it will come in the mail in one week.  Then, go to a conservative neighborhood and slap it up on a street sign or some other public place!  That's all!  Since it'll get to you in a week, it will be up long enough to be seen by Republicans, but not too long to piss them off, all before Election Day.

Also, you can go to http://badnarik.org/supporters/downloads.php to print up Badnarik flyers and whatnot to spread amongst conservatives who would never vote for Kerry, but hate Bush as well.  And none of this hinders our GOTV and donations to Dem friendly groups.  So I say, Go Badnarik, the Nader of 2004!

Help ACT Get Out The Vote!!

Tue Sep 21, 2004 at 03:36:19 PM PDT

Are you looking for a way to help Get Out The Vote, but you're living in a solid blue or solid red state? Are you too busy with work or school (or both) to travel to a swing state?

I am, and that's why I signed up with ACT to write letters to swing states.  These potential voters can swing the entire election, ensuring that they do vote on Election Day.  Your letter can seal the deal, encouraging to take part in the democratic process.  I've started writing to voters in New Mexico and I really feel this is a great way for those busy Democrats among us to make a difference.  So please, click on this link and click JOIN ACT to start writing letters.  Please click CONTRIBUTE if you can afford to help fund the GOTV efforts, with people going door to door.

With your help, we can win this election and start fixing these problems that have plagued us these last four years.  Thanks!

Chicago Tribune Article About Blogging

Sun Sep 19, 2004 at 08:48:12 AM PDT

Long time reader, first time diarist.  If I messed up, my apologies.

I woke up this morning to read this ridiculous story about blogging.  I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed, since it is the Chicago Tribune, but when the SCLM tries to show blogging in a conservative light, something must be done.
