1995 Hillary to white, working-class voters: "Screw 'em"

Hillary Clinton On Working Class Whites In 1995: "Screw 'Em"

Yes that First Lady Hillary Clinton comments after congressional elections. Sounds a bit bitter to me and a bit elitist.

In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."

Tin Foil hat alert: Is Bush blackmailing Dems?

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 12:14:55 PM PDT

I don't have any knowledge that he is. Yet maybe this is more than an academic question. I realize the Democrats are not monolothic yet it seems that this Congress has been cowed by the White House. My question is how ? why ? All polls show vast rejection of Bush policies a demand for change yet time and time again we have seen Democrats compromise core principles, allow targets of investigation to ignore subpoenas and even provide retroactive immunity.

Again my question is why ? What the hell am I missing ? How do we find out ? Any thoughts on this?

Congress: A Useless majority

Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 07:01:03 AM PDT

49 Democrats
49 Republicans
2 Independents
1 always votes with the Dems
1 Lieberdog always votes with the Republicans

So just to get the chance to vote you need to peel away 10 Republicans 20.4 % of the Republicans. To override a veto that is 19 votes or 38.8 % of Republicans.

Idea to combat the Lieberman\Republican Race

Thu Aug 17, 2006 at 07:24:59 AM PDT

Well the fix is in. The Republicans are playing games with our candidate Lamont and I doubt the DNC is going to get involved. The Quinnipiac poll poll release  shows that Lieberman is running as the de-Facto Republican candidate and almost all his support is coming at the expense of the Republican Senate nominee Alan Schlesinger.
Alan Schlesinger

After giving it some thought I came up with and idea to split the Republican vote again. Something pretty radical. Lets help Schlesinger!  We need to split the Republican vote. Thats right, if we help Schlesinger who is going to benefit? Most likely its going to be Lamont. I know this is not a usual play by Democrats but it is for Republicans. Lets be realistic we need to help Schlesinger to help Lamont. Otherwise the Republicans get their stealth candidate in and thats Lieberman. So here is Schlesinger's donation page donate

Please recommend if you think this approach has legs.

FAIR vindicates war critics!!

Wed Mar 15, 2006 at 03:53:22 PM PDT

Yes it should be obvious that we who opposed the Iraq war, fought the lies and were branded as traitors have been vindicated for our beliefs. Still it is important when we reflect what the folks on the war bandwagon were saying because it can happen again. Look at the Iran propaganda right now and see if it does not sound eerilly familiar.

So here is the link for a disturbing walk down memory lane.
The Final Word Is Hooray!

Here are some of the more interesting quotes

Post Mortem from Texas Dem Primary election judge

Wed Mar 08, 2006 at 12:02:28 PM PDT

No I was not a judge in Cirro's precints.

I was a judge in Plano which is in Sam Johnson district. One of the most if not most conservative counties in Texas. Both the Dems and Republicans voted in this location

Some of my observations
There are committed passionate Democrats in Texas even in Plano. Figures by our Democratic county chair put us at 68k strong in the county

Republicans come to vote at much higher levels. In my county I and others observed a ~ 9 to 1 ratio of Republicans vs democrats.

Congratulations Ronald Reagan's America is here

What happens when you kill the New Deal ?
Young adults now can look forward to low pay, no benefits, staggering debt

Democrats Need a Unified strategy to end Iraq War

Thu Dec 01, 2005 at 07:24:21 AM PDT

Well it's been fun watching the Republicans crash and burn around this Iraq debacle its time to formulate a plan for the Democratic Party . We need a unified plan that the leadership can sell and the party can rally around.

The suggestions I have heard that appeal to me are

  •  Recruit soldiers from the Middle East, I vote Palestinians , and train them in a safe third country.

  • Gradually phase them in while phasing out Americans over a  two to three year period.

  • Use the oil to get support from other countries France, Germany and yes China.

  • If the policy fails blame the Republicans for creating the disaster in the first place

The point is we have too many free agents with too many plans. We need our party to get into a room and come out with a unified strategy and then promote the hell out of it in the media. It's time we stood together because we have seen the result of a divided party. You know who I am speaking about Senator Lieberman

Texas Gays it time to go to church

Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 11:53:15 AM PDT

I am not talking about the progressive churches. I am talking about the right wing churches, the mega churches every place they preach their hate.

I can't count how many times I have heard about the evils of the homosexual lifestyle and how they need to get right with God. Well what better place for that than church? Hell they are always trying to get gays to give up the "lifestyle choice".

My guess is that the average church member is going to get very uncomfortable very quick.

They feel they have the right to impose their beliefs on the gay individuals. Why not do the same thing to them.

Besides for too long this issue has been a monologue in the churches how about making it into a conversation.

I think the churches have become to successful to ignore its time to take the fight to them.

Prop 2 lesson learned.
This issue was lost in the churches.

It's the Media stupid: Thinking outside the media box:

Tue Nov 01, 2005 at 07:57:59 AM PDT

The biggest obstacle to the Democratic Party is not the Republican Party but the media.  Democratic party polling consistently shows that they represent American values much better than Republicans. Yet the vote has not reflected that in quite some time. In fact the Republicans have become the majority party by becoming less representative of the American voter. How does this happen? The Republicans understand the media and use it to win. The republicans did not win until they took control of the message and that meant taking control of the media.

Republicans do not win with their ideas but by manipulating the media. Call it the vast right wing conspiracy because that is exactly what it is. Talk Radio, a legion of conservative pundits, religious indoctrination, Fox news, Clear channel, Drudge Report, Bill O Reilly,  conservative think tanks and a cowed corporately owned main street media. That is what we are up against.

Snow admits GOP Screws Workers

Tue Aug 09, 2005 at 07:06:57 AM PDT

Treasury secretary is admitting what our lying eyes have been telling us. Bush economy benefits the rich and screws working people. Yes I know this has been obvious for a number of years but it turns out working people are noticing it too. The president that does not pay attention to polls has managed to notice at least some polls.  Snow Concedes Economic Surge Is Not Benefiting People Equally

Treasury Secretary John W. Snow acknowledged yesterday that the fruits of strong economic growth are not spreading equally to less educated Americans, as he and the rest of President Bush's economic team prepared to meet today to discuss wages and income distribution in an otherwise surging economy.

Wait you don't believe Snow what about the CBO?

A study released yesterday by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office focuses on "unprecedented" declines in the workforce in the wake of the 2001 recession that continued through early 2005. Job growth in this economic recovery has been substantially slower than previous recoveries, the CBO said.

Bush decieves America. MSM does not care

Tue Jul 26, 2005 at 07:48:55 AM PDT

Yet again my simple mind has trouble figuring out why America is okay with a President and administration that hides the truth or lies to them.
Yes I blame the media. The administration announces that they will release some of the Roberts information when HE WAS WORKING FOR THE US and the MSM acts like this is a big favor. Now rather than focusing on the stuff that they will so generously LET the US SENATE(yeah they have really pissed away their responsibility) have maybe we should focus on some other stuff. Oh I don't know maybe the Roberts papers they are concealing. Yes if they will not make non secret records available to the public or Senate then they are concealing his actions. What the hell are they hiding? Shouldn't we know before confirming this guy to a lifetime post?

"Howie" Kurtz makes it official MSM are assholes

Wed Jun 15, 2005 at 07:36:24 AM PDT

Howard "the Putz" Kurtz just had an astonishing revelation.
It's official: Democrats are Fed up with the press

Gee Howie it only took you 10 years to figure it out and in your arrogance you decide to declare it official. I guess 10 years of Democrats screaming it out is all it takes for you "MSM" journalist to figure it out. Pardon me if I am not impressed!

After watching news replace by infotainment, repeated errors in reporting, echoing right wing propaganda, complete collapse in investigative journalism and just an overall piss poor job in general you act surprised that we have no respect or trust in you institution.

So before you get to0 glib and dismiss our viewpoints ask yourself why we have to read foreign newspapers to find substantive stories about Iraq, the Downing street Memo, U.S. voter suppression, U.S. corporate corruption etc..

Former Republican Ethics Chairman repudiates his own party

Wed Apr 13, 2005 at 07:01:49 AM PDT

Well apparently even some Republicans have had enough of the Hammer's bullshit, corrupt politics.
Todays Washington Post editorial has a public repudiation of the new House ethics rules. While I would have used stronger language this editorial is important because the FORMER ETHICS CHAIRMAN, a Republican is publicly repudiating the new ethics rules.

Red State Dumbasses

"What's the matter With Kansas"

How about what's the matter with Tennessee. Yet another blatant example
of what happens when you vote Republican. All those Tennessee folks losing
their Medicare who voted for Bush and his corrupt party. Those folks  take
some solace in the fact that even though you won't have health care at least
you won't have to worry about them Homosexuals getting married or that your
President "Chosen by God" will be paying lip service to your "selected"
Christian values. To you folks who did not vote for the party of evil I pray
the lord blesses you with good health.

What are the best dump Lieberman sites.

Mon Mar 07, 2005 at 06:53:39 AM PDT

This guy is killing us. Do we have anyone to run against him. If not lets start recruiting. Assholes like Lieberman are the reason our party is in the toilet. Looking for well organize concerted effort to Dump Joe. If its not there I would welcome help starting a group.

Cokie Roberts owes us an apology

Thu Feb 03, 2005 at 07:32:12 AM PDT

I am fed up with Cokie Roberts pretending to be a journalist. After watching her legitimize Karl Rove staged polital stunt with the following comments. "No one can doubt that the female Iraqi voter and the dead soldiers mothers hug and embrace was the most spectacular and completely spontaneous moment of the evening".

She needs to be exposed for the Administration hack that she is. I have sent the following letter to ABC news and would encourage other folks to write in and let them know we are fed up with the supposed mainstream media promoting the Bush agenda.
